Reflections on the One-Year Anniversary of Whispers of Our Planet

This month marks one year since the official launch of my poetry book, Whispers of Our Planet, and I find myself reflecting on the journey that continues to unfold from that afternoon. 

At the time, it felt like a deeply personal milestone, the culmination of years spent listening to the Earth, to stillness and to the inner voice that moves through creative practice. I shared poems written in quiet moments, often inspired by the natural world and the leadership insights and questions I encounter daily in my work on strategy, culture and organisational transformation. 

Yet what unfolded at the launch was more than a literary celebration. It became a gathering of shared beliefs and values. 

Surrounded by leaders, artists, environmental stewards and changemakers, I realised that Whispers of Our Planet isn’t separate or adjacent from my work at Aspirall. It is part of it. My poetry is a companion to the transformative work we do at Aspirall, a different language for the same truths. 

When Ian Hutton spoke that night about reverence as the foundation of environmental care, it echoed something I have long believed: change doesn’t begin with strategy alone. It starts with listening. With noticing. With care. 

Since its launch, the book has found its way into unexpected places, including boardrooms, conversations about sustainability and circles of leaders navigating change. Poetry has offered a gentle disruption, a quiet way to invite awareness and activate purpose. 

At Aspirall, we help organisations and leadership teams navigate transformation and strategic renewal. Now, more than ever, I believe that transformation must be both purposeful and heart-led. Poetry has a role in shaping the kind of leadership the world needs now, conscious, connected and grounded in principles that matter. 

Thank you to those who shared that moment with me. Your presence reminded me that even the softest voice can carry profound meaning. 

Whispers of Our Planet was a beginning. One year on, I look forward to continuing this work, integrating voice, strategy, and purpose in all the ways we lead and connect.
